Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an engineering professional to serve as a Transportation Engineer 2 in the Traffic Design and Operations office, located in Spokane, WA. This position works to improve reliability and safety performance of the region’s highways by conducting operational reviews (e.g., signing, striping, travel speeds, crosswalks, and work zones), and reviewing and analyzing crash history, including the use of Safety Analyst and the Highway Safety Manual. The individual will use and interpret the findings of these assessments to evaluate, review, and implement Minor Operational Enhancements or suggest projects for delivery by other programs. In addition, the person in this role will investigate and respond to traffic-related inquiries from the general public and local agencies and assist with managing the region’s sign inventory. This position supports the department’s mission to ensure that the region's signs and markings conform to the requirements of the current MUTCD and WSDOT policy and publications and supports the region’s Motorist Information Sign and Highway Advertising Control Act activities.
