The Electromechanical Engineer is a highly skilled professional responsible for leading the prototyping and testing activities of electric motors and generators in a research and development environment. This role requires an experienced engineer with a strong background in electrical and electromechanical engineering, along with a proven track record of successfully designing, building, and testing electric motors and generators. Work will include working with Industrial, Government, Academic, and Internal customers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of prototyping techniques, testing methodologies, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of innovation in the field.

 

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, and testing electric motors and generators.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, JMAG, ANSYS, SIMULINK) and simulation tools.
- Strong knowledge of electromechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in testing methodologies, instrumentation, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in testing and data acquisition equipment and software (e.g. sensors, data acquisition hardware, Labview)
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. Federal government, candidates for the position must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in designing, prototyping, and testing electric motors and generators.
- Professional engineering license (PE) or relevant certifications.
- Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for motor and generator design.
- Experience with aerospace electrical power applications.
- Experience with advanced prototyping techniques and additive manufacturing.
- Experience with advanced air mobility applications.
