Engineering Manager
Reports to: VP of Operations

Engineering Manager Job Summary:
This position directs civil, mechanical, environmental, and mine engineering activities across the Group. The person occupying this position will manage projects and select and oversee the activities of outsourced engineering firms to provide engineering technical expertise. This person will focus on Group objectives including, but not limited to, mine structural integrity, compliance with environmental laws, building construction above and below ground, growth or acquisition opportunities, and design and maintenance of ventilation and refrigeration systems.
 
Engineering Manager Duties/Responsibilities:

• Manage engineering technical support for projects and activities
• Allocate work between the in-house Engineering Team and outsourced consultants based on expertise, experience, and capacity
• Select, communicate with, and hold accountable consultants to ensure value for money
• Coordinate with Managers to provide engineering support for operations, design, maintenance, environment, and safety
• Collect, maintain, and organize company data including surveys, CAD data, and construction drawings

 
Engineering Manager Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Select and oversee consultants
• Select and manage Engineering Team as well as contracted engineering services

 
Engineering Manager Skills/Abilities:

• Effective decision making and project management skills
• Ability to manage effectively across a broad range of organization levels, contractors, and suppliers
• Excellent Microsoft Office and AutoCAD drafting skills

 
Engineering Manager Education and Experience:

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
• Required: Minimum ten years’ experience in engineering
• Required: Valid Driver’s License
• Preferred: PE license

 
Engineering Manager Physical and/or Travel Requirements:

• Long periods of standing, sitting, being outdoors, and working at a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
• Frequent day travel and site visits
