Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Planning Specialist 4 to serve as the Roadside Design & Policy Specialist in Olympia, WA. The top candidate is knowledgeable in the practice of landscape architecture and will provide essential support for roadside restoration services in contract and construction work on areas outside the edge of pavement of the traveled way and inside WSDOT right-of-way. The incumbent will also provide statewide landscape architectural technical support and services for Project Design and Development, conduct research pertaining to roadside issues, and assist with the development, maintenance, and update of the WSDOT standards and publications relating to roadside aspects and acceptance of roadside material. The Roadside and Site Development Unit supports WSDOT’s mission through wise management of the roadside as an asset, delivering right-sized projects, supporting multi-modal transportation options, and improving environmental conditions with a focus on transportation system resilience.
