Job Description:

Kian International, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager/Senior Technical Manager for our Environmental Division.  Kian International is headquartered in Clearwater, FL, and this position will be remote to that office, with occasional travel to project sites in the Midwest, Texas, and the Rocky Mountains. The Senior Project Manager/Senior Technical Manager is responsible for directing interdisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, programmers, fabrication contractors, technicians, and subcontractors into a cohesive production unit.  They provide technical, regulatory, and overall project delivery support to ensure the project is on time, as expected, and on budget. The Senior Project Manager/Senior Technical Manager will be expected to provide diverse experience across multiple disciplines.

This position requires DoD experience in environmental investigations/remediation, explosives investigations, remediation, and decontamination.  Experience in construction demolition and/or site development is a plus.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

 Supervisory responsibilities include evaluating and mentoring assigned staff to the project team, as well as providing feedback on team and individual team member performance.
 
This individual must be highly motivated and a self-starter, with the ability to work remotely from their home; flexible, detail-oriented, enjoy interacting with employees and clients; willing to work at a dynamic pace to complete tasks and meet deadlines; able to travel and work on-site, as the projects demand; and share a commitment to Kian International’s vision, mission, and values.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

 
  • Quality control of Projects
  • Actively delegates and coordinates tasks and schedules with project team members to include logistics and deployment of resources and personnel
  • Responsible for coordinating the timely invoicing of fees
  • Serves as mentor to teach, train, and answers questions of project staff and environmental division junior employees
  • Checks the accuracy of assigned tasks (formal and informal QA & QC) as appropriate
  • Identifies technical, timing, and financial issues and seeks resolutions from appropriate stakeholders
  • Develops proposals, including the calculation/estimations of time schedules and the cost workbooks of potential work
  • Responsible for subcontractor bid, selection, and management
  • Independently communicates on technical matters with the client
  • Overnight and day travel, as necessary to the project
  • Performs training and development with Division staff, as needed
  • Performs other duties, as necessary 

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrated project management skills, PMP certification is preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of team with excellent time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Must be capable of utilizing cloud-based software, including SharePoint and MS365 (MS Suite) CADD/GIS skills preferred
  • Must possess strong technical verbal and writing skills, and be able to read, comprehend, and disseminate technical literature, studies, and reports, including regulations, guidance documents, and engineering plans.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and activities
  • Must have demonstrated subject matter expertise related to environmental science and consulting
  • Must be capable of acting as an independent contributor by successfully completing and/or directing tasks, and delivering technically sound reports and products
 

Education and/or Experience

  • BS or MS from an accredited four-year college or university, with a focus in environmental sciences or a related field and/or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of six years of environmental consulting experience is preferred
  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred, however, not required
  • Department of Defense Project or Program Management experience (in the field(s) of environmental, decontamination, and/or demolition) is required for this position
