Director, Manufacturing Engineering
Full-Time

Career Transitions, LLC is engaged to identify a Director of Engineering for a manufacturing facility and responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, and develop, implement, and manage systems, procedures, and policies related to the manufacturing process in an automotive assembly operation.  This role builds and develops the core manufacturing, automation, tooling and advanced manufacturing engineering teams.
Director, Manufacturing Engineering Functions:
  • Lead a team of experts across multiple sites to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for high volume production of electromechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product design, quality assurance (QA), and supply chain to improve design for manufacturability (DFM) and optimize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tools, leveraging process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Analyze data using statistical process control (SPC) and other methods to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Develop and implement new production processes, including automated assembly and fabrication solutions, to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Manage the manufacturing engineering budget, allocating resources for optimal project timelines and quality targets.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting a data-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making. 
Director, Manufacturing Engineering Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (Master's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field is preferred) with at least 10+ years in manufacturing engineering, designing and launching factories and leading a group of engineering professionals.
The ideal candidate is proficiency in:
  • Developing and implementing automated assembly and fabrication solutions, with demonstrated experience.
  • Expertise in high-volume manufacturing line design, install and launch, as well as factory industrial planning.
  • Experience in driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making abilities.
  • Managing conflicting objectives, compressed timelines, and highly-automated processes.
