The pay rate is commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved. 


Examples of Work

The Scour Team Leader will assist the Hydrology and Hydraulic Section Head in supervision of the Interdisciplinary Scour Assessment Team (ISAT) and also assist as a State Consultant Review Engineer. The ISAT team supervisor will serve as the team lead on scour inspections, scour analysis and the review and sign off on hydraulic scour reports. This will include organizing and conducting scour field trips to obtain site data and filling out the required forms. When scour issues are found this individual will provide assistance in scoping out the corrective measure required for any scour mitigation work needed. As the State Consultant Review Engineer, this individual will help assist in reviewing hydraulic designs and data sheets submitted by the consultants to ensure accuracy and conformance to the hydraulic guidelines and State Standards and will be involved with reviewing the Scope of Services and estimating design hours for the consultant's design contracts.


Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and one year of experience performing professional level engineering assignments. Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at the time of application and be licensed by the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects at time of employment or be able to obtain such license within 90 days of employment.

PREFERRED:
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Hydrology and Hydraulics experience/education.
• Proven management and supervisory experience.
• Bridge inspection experience.
• Floodplain Certification and experience.

OTHER:
Occasional overnight travel may be required. Requires a valid driver's license. Regular and reliable attendance is also required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices as they relate to hydraulic engineering.
• Familiarity with Nebraska floodplain regulations, laws and state minimum standards and FEMA.
• Strong organizational, public relations, and customer service skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
