Monash University invites applications for the role of Professor and Head of Department Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. 

Monash Engineering is a multi-disciplinary Faculty involved in internationally relevant engineering developments. They have established transnational education collaborations with many leading institutions. From the design and creation of simple mechanisms through to highly-tuned nano-devices, as well as robotics through to avionics and aeronautics – The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is educating the leading engineers of tomorrow. The Department’s researchers perform innovative work in exciting and globally relevant areas. They work with a range of companies and organisations across an equally diverse range of industries - from automotive through to medical devices, and from advanced manufacturing through to scientific instrumentation. The researchers of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department also provide consultancy services across a broad range of fields and specialisations including advanced manufacturing, micro/nano engineering, robotics and control, solid mechanics, thermofluids, and biomedical engineering.

The Department is a gateway to the rich fields of mechanical, aerospace, robotics, and mechatronics engineering. The Head of Department, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, will bring a deep personal commitment to, and reputation in, both education and research. The incumbent will expand the Department’s international profile and its interdisciplinary research whilst leading innovative pedagogical activities to ensure that the students’ University experience is of the highest standard and globally recognisable.

Monash University is seeking an exceptional visionary leader who will play a key role in leading and developing research initiatives in areas such as smart manufacturing, energy, and robotics. The incoming Head of Department will be expected to foster collaboration within the department, with national colleagues, industry, and international researchers, creating an environment that fosters and supports sustained growth and allows the Department and its academics to showcase their combined expertise and research capability on a global scale.
