American Engineering Testing is now hiring a Geotech Engineer for the Sheridan WY Office.

The Geotech Engineer coordinates and completes project testing services by applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices to specific problems. Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques. Receive close supervision and specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Perform soil and/or bedrock observations and judgments.
•Perform other geotechnical-related monitoring.
•Perform soil boring layout/documentation, utility clearance meets and surveying.
•Conduct field observations and documentation of existing structures, including condition surveys/evaluations.
•Perform material sampling and testing.
•Perform observations and special inspections related to concrete, masonry, and other building materials.
•Perform vibration and noise monitoring.
•Coordinate technicians to perform field tests.
•Laboratory Work:
•Perform soil, aggregate, and/or bedrock classifications in the laboratory.
•Perform laboratory tests on soil, aggregate, and/or bedrock samples.
•Perform laboratory tests on concrete, masonry, or other building materials.
•Reporting:
•Prepare formal reports of field and laboratory work.
•Prepare detailed site visit reports for job file using standard AET forms.
•Prepare information sheets for project technicians.
•Assist in preparation of training manuals and QA procedures.
•Drafting.
•Review plans and specifications and prepare project specific proposals.
•Maintain client, project team and in-house communication.
•Review and prepare project documentation, including field reports, telephone/e-mail correspondence, meeting notes, etc.
•Maintain project file in accordance with AET QA procedures and requirements.
•Prepare timely invoices and pursue aged accounts.
OTHER AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
•Conduct field, laboratory and office activities in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, along with AET’s QA and Health and Safety Policies, to promote the safety and protection of employees, clients and the public.
•Maintain valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.  Some positions may require use of personal vehicle for company business.  Maintain compliance with DOT driver regulations if required for position.  Maintain appropriate physicals if required for position.
•Frequent travel required within regional area.  Occasional out-of-town travel.
•Safely use and maintain company instruments and equipment.
•Complete assigned projects within budget and satisfy client needs.
•Coordinate with other AET staff with the ultimate goal of increasing efficiency, productivity and communication. Develop and maintain business contacts.
•Aid in company marketing functions.
•Assist in training of technicians and less experienced personnel.
 REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·        Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geological Engineering required.
·        0-3 years related experience.
·        Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
