The Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority (ACWWA) is looking for a Senior Utility Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team. Hiring Range: $100,866 - $132,426

SUMMARY:
The Senior Utility Water/Wastewater engineer will assist with the implementation of water and wastewater projects under the supervision of the Director of Engineering Services.
  • Perform engineering duties on in-house projects of various sizes and types.
  • Lead and/or assist with the management of the design, bidding, construction, and administration of projects associated with ACWWA’s water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Assist with programs such as asset management, regulatory compliance, and industrial pretreatment.
  • Work with other departments to resolve operational and engineering issues.
  • Coordinate with all departments as needed to successfully execute projects and to provide updates and reports to key stakeholders.
  • Work with consulting engineers, contractors, and other agencies to facilitate the successful completion of projects.
  • Assist in developing operational priorities, goals, and objectives.
  • Asist with development of capital improvement projects and negotiate agreements.
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with project team members.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with relevant local, state, and federal regulations and special districts organizations.
  • Knowledge of current engineering design and construction principles and practices applicable to public utilities engineering projects
  • Experience with water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment, and wastewater collection
  • Experience with construction administration and observation.
  • Experience with water and sewer system modeling software
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific, technical, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and boards of directors.
EDUCATION and SKILLS
  1. Required: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with a major in civil engineering.  Preference given to applicants with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a 4-year ABET accredited college or university.
  2. Required: 10 years of experience in water / wastewater / civil engineering
  3. Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado or have the ability to obtain registration within 6 months. 
  4. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.
 
The performance of this position may require exposure to construction areas which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as hardhat and safety glasses.
