This position is located at the Advanced Technology and Training Center (ATTC) in Dayton, OH, at the University of Dayton Research Institute. The position will support the Additive Manufacturing Post Processing Team and will report to the Additive Manufacturing Process Engineering Team Lead within the AM Operations Group. The position will work with the AM Engineering Group and the Post Processing Team during the product development process ensuring AM parts are designed for manufacturability, designing fixtures for parts for machining, and support processing for all equipment within the department as needed. Position will recommend and implement process improvements and/or modifications in the sequence of operations and equipment utilization. The successful candidate will have expertise in post process machining plan development and be responsible for engineering drawings. Additional areas of support will include process documentation, in-process inspections, part marking, ensuring operations comply with safety and ISO quality standards within the process. This position may also be responsible for planning, coordination, and management of special projects. The majority of work will support government customers, but occasionally outside industry partners will be supported as well.


Minimum Qualifications
• BS in Engineering with a minimum of 12+ years of experience OR associate’s degree with 15+ years of direct work experience with engineering projects and supporting post processing operations. In absence of a degree, 20+ years of direct work experience with engineering projects and supporting post processing operations
• 10+ years of experience operating or programming equipment including 3-axis CNC mills (5-axis mills preferred) and 2-axis lathes
• Experience collaborating with design, manufacturing, and process engineers and other technical personnel
• Experience with CAD and CAM software packages
• Ability to read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with team members at all levels
• Attention to detail
• Ability to write clear work instructions for technicians on the floor to follow
• Capable of determining the correct inspections strategies and techniques needed to verify process accuracy on the floor
• Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Demonstrated experience determining machining plans for additively manufactured parts
• Engineering experience with aerospace and/or vehicle technology including ground support equipment
• Experience with quality engineering and processes including quality management systems (AS9100 and/or ISO9001), non-conformances, and corrective actions
• Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, CNC machining, molding, and heat treat
• Direct experience with ECI JobBOSS2 (formerly E2 Shoptech) ERP System
• Six Sigma Green Belt
• Experience using SOLIDWORKS
• Experience scanning and modeling
• Prior experience with UDRI policies and processes
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
