This position will support various USAF Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO) teams, located at the UDRI Hangar 01 facility within the Air Force (AF) Rapid Sustainment Office. The RSO increases mission readiness by rapidly identifying, applying and scaling new technology essential to the operation and sustainment of the U.S. Air Force. RSO is one of the lead program offices within AFLCMC in bringing together and implementing a comprehensive set of new technological methods, processes, and techniques for use in the AF. Success comes from our teamwork and mutual respect for team member talents and unique perspectives. The RSO teams missions are to transformatively improve Air Force maintenance practices by implementing predictive maintenance techniques, leveraging state-of-the-art AI/ML technology and sensor based algorithms.

The Maintenance and Logistics Cloud-Data Solutions Architect role is responsible for concepting and executing Maintenance and Logistics cloud and data architecture development for the RSO.

The Maintenance and Logistics Cloud-Data Solutions Architect will work with cloud partners to understand capabilities and constraints to develop solutions that will serve the needs of the Air Force and the RSO. They will also serve as a subject matter expert, evaluating various projects’ data needs, risks, and issues, to provide recommendations and lead efforts to develop cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with multiple RSO teams to support the scoping, configuration, and scaling of cloud-data architecture projects

• Working with stakeholders to concept, architect, plan, and execute cloud and data architectures to make cloud data readily available across the digital eco-system

• Providing cloud and data technical leadership and guidance to the RSO teams

• Assessing risk and developing mitigation plans for data-sourcing challenges from Air Force data systems

• Providing support to a multi-discipline team of technical and programmatic experts to facilitate prototyping and scaling of cloud applications for military use cases

• Evaluating and architecting cloud data solutions to facilitate the processing of unstructured data

• Developing test or sandbox cloud spaces to prototype and demo new capabilities in a production-realistic environment

• Conducting technical reviews and providing feedback on proposed designs and implementations

  • Developing API centric, multi-cloud backbone and applications
  • Architect solutions that support connected and disconnected/austere communications


Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cloud-data Solutions Architect or a similar role
• Experience with AWS services & architectures, and cloud infrastructure design and implementation
• Experience with cloud-based data-pipeline, data-transport, and data-decoding processes
• Experience with software languages like Python, R, Java, JavaScript, C, C#, etc.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architectures, principles, theories, practice, and standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• US citizenship
• Ability to obtain / maintain a security clearance

An R3 must meet all R2 minimum qualifications in addition to the qualifications listed below:
A minimum of 8 years of directly related experience is required
 


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Master’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
• 10 yrs experience, with 5 years of experience with DoD cloud-based data systems
• AWS Certs: (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate SAA-C03, or Professional, SAP-C02)
• Advanced knowledge of cloud architectures, principles, theories, practice, and standards
• Experience with Agile development or DevSecOps
• Knowledge of Bl, Analytics, Cassandra or other NoSQL technology
• Active Secret security clearance
