Crane Currency is looking to fill a Systems Engineer Job in the Alpharetta, GA Site!

We are looking to add a System Engineer or Integrator for our Alpharetta, GA location. The selected person will develop next generation electromechanical systems and research equipment for enabling new product constructions by designing and implementing custom hardware, vision systems, closed loop control systems, and manufacturing equipment.  The focus will also be on process optimization to improve and automate tasks within manufacturing through collaboration with the Operations teams.

The Systems Integrator / Engineer is Responsible for

  • Develop custom hardware to assist research in delivering new technologies to market. Developing customized equipment to enable next generation micro-structures for improved optics and security features.
  • Partner with the global R&D team to deliver technology solutions for scaling electromechanical concepts to production.  Provide assistance in vetting and transferring new technologies to other sites to enable next generation micro-optic security features.
  • Collaborate with Operations to address manufacturing challenges with innovative technical solutions to improve yield, uptime, or throughput.
  • Maintain and closely guard trade secret information; investigate patentability and intellectual property value of new concepts. Evaluate competitor patents to refine scope of internal research as needed. Serves as a security expert as it relates to trade secrets and customer information.  Promote safety and ensure a safe work environment and safe employee work habits.

Qualifications:

      Required: 

  • BS Degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Certification or advanced training with 5+ years of experience in related field
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and develop machine systems that meet specs.
  • Hands-on machine and systems engineering experience that includes assembling, integrating, and testing mechanical and electrical components to construct machines & systems according to engineering drawings, blueprints & schematics.
  • Troubleshooting to identify/resolve issues related to machine functionality, electrical systems, mechanical components, and system integration through systematic problem-solving techniques.
  • Development and execution of test plans to verify performance, functionality, and safety, ensuring compliance with design specs and regulatory requirements.
  • Prep of detailed documentation, including engineering drawings, bill of materials, assembly instructions, and user manuals, ensuring proper understanding, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the built systems.
  • Ability to keep up with the latest advancements in machine building technologies, automation, and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing projects timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring on-time completion and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Adherence to relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols while designing and building machines and systems.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for creating detailed engineering drawings. Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, including knowledge of sensors, actuators, motors, and control systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regs related to machine building and safety.
  • Understanding of controls architecture including PLC, HMI, Drive Controllers, and communication software. 3-5 years of PLC programming experience is preferred. 
  • Software experience in Matlab, LabVIEW, Python, or C#.
  • Applicants must be United States citizens and will need to demonstrate Suitability for employment in a Position of Public Trust consistent with our U.S. Government contract requirements.

         Desired: 

    •  MS Degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
    • Experience in an industrial R&D or similar technical role
