Job Responsibilities/Duties

WRPS, the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site, is the largest environmental cleanup organization in the world with numerous dynamic engineering teams coordinated between nuclear operations and other critical projects in hopes to serve the WRPS mission. The mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste dating back to the Manhattan Project and Cold War. You will gain the fundamental engineering knowledge critical to executing a complex multi-disciplined effort to cleanup radioactive and hazardous waste. The complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrating engineering organization. Engineering at WRPS consists of Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Nuclear Safety, Plant/System Engineering, Construction Project Engineering, Flowsheet Integration, Process and Control Systems, and the Chief Technology Office.

Electrical engineers are responsible for providing engineering support to the WRPS mission within the Engineering Organization. Duties of the electrical engineer will typically include design, specification, analysis, testing, fabrication support, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical systems. Electrical power and control systems are resident in all existing tank farm facilities and new facilities under design and construction:

* Management of 177 underground single shell (SST) and double shell tank (DST) and interconnected underground/aboveground waste transfer system;
* Development of radioactive waste treatment systems which including filtration, ion exchange, transfer systems;
* Remote retrieval of waste including piping, pumps, valves, jumpers, sluicers, and robotic systems;
* Effluent treatment facility (ETF) with numerous unit operations for final treatment of secondary waste

The specific engineering duties will include the following:
* Assume responsibility for the electrical system aspects of specific projects/scope including design, application, test, or the preparation of specifications for systems, materials, equipment or components in collaboration with other engineering/science competencies within the team.
* Prepare technical manuals, reports, procedures and deliver technical presentations to engineering, operations, projects, and customer organizations.
* Conduct site/area visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations
* Apply technical knowledge toward the reduction of the cost and improvement of systems where possible and incorporate new ideas resulting from engineering/scientific progress in the field.
* Support preparation of scope, cost, and schedules for projects/tasks.
* Problem-solving for complex technical challenges with adaptations of engineering alternatives.
* Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
* Act as lead on projects
* Ability to execute tasks with minimal oversight
* Ability to solve highly technical problems

Required Qualifications
Grade 18:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; with
Seven (7) years related experience

Grade 19:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; with
Nine (9) years related experience

Desired Qualifications
Nuclear Industry Experience
PE
Experience with NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace

Compensation & Benefits
Grade 18:
Hiring Range Minimum: $101,525
Hiring Range Maximum: $128,075

Grade 19:
Hiring Range Minimum: $111,588
Hiring Range Maximum: $140,663

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
