Hydrogeologist Job Summary:
Our client has a immediate vacancy for a skilled and experienced Hydrogeologist to join our Geoscience team. As a Hydrogeologist, you will play a vital role in the assessment and management of water resources in various industries, including land development, mining, construction, and infrastructure projects. With 5 to 10 years of experience and a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation in Ontario, you will contribute to the successful completion of hydrogeological investigations, groundwater modeling, and environmental impact assessments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in hydrogeology, a deep understanding of groundwater flow systems, and expertise in supporting sustainable water resource management.
Hydrogeologist Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydrogeological investigations, including data collection, aquifer testing, and groundwater sampling, to characterize groundwater resources and flow systems
- Analyze and interpret hydrogeological data using specialized software and modeling tools
- Conduct groundwater modeling studies to assess the impact of land development, mining, construction, and infrastructure projects on groundwater resources
- Prepare technical reports and environmental impact assessments, providing recommendations for groundwater management and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and project managers, to integrate hydrogeological findings into project designs and plans
- Evaluate potential risks and issues related to groundwater quality and quantity, and develop strategies for remediation and sustainable water resource management
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders regarding groundwater-related issues and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Stay up-to-date on provincial and federal regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to hydrogeology and groundwater management
- Conduct site visits and fieldwork to monitor groundwater conditions, assess potential impacts, and ensure compliance with environmental standards
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, project budgets, and work plans for hydrogeological investigations
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior hydrogeology staff members
- Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and workshops to stay informed about emerging technologies and advancements in hydrogeology
Qualifications for Hydrogeologist:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) designation in Ontario
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in hydrogeology, preferably in a consulting or geoscience firm
- Strong knowledge of hydrogeological principles, groundwater flow systems, and water resource management
- Proficiency in hydrogeological modeling software, such as MODFLOW, Visual MODFLOW, or equivalent
- Experience in conducting aquifer testing, groundwater sampling, and data interpretation
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and guidelines related to groundwater management in Ontario
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex hydrogeological concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
