Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking an Engineering Technical Specialist in Vancouver, WA. This position serves primarily as an experienced technical roadway design specialist for the Clark County Engineering Office (CCEO), in support of its project delivery, working collaboratively with others (including other TE3 Team Leaders) to deliver projects. This role aligns closely with WSDOT’s mission of providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation options to improve communities and economic vitality for people and businesses. The position provides for an experienced designer who is familiar with providing cost-effective roadway designs, which incorporate community input and meets applicable design standards, among other considerations. The incumbent will scope and design complex transportation projects, including but not limited to geometric changes to interstate routes, Complete Streets considerations, roundabouts, interchanges, and fish passages; produce deliverables including plans and estimates; provide design support during construction; coach and mentor other staff in roadway and hydraulic design, including MicroStation, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads; coordinate design decisions and documentation with the project TE3 Team Lead; and provide quality control reviews of the project design and deliverables at each milestone.
