Job Description:

Quantum Computing Research Engineer - Interested in applying quantum research to solve real world problems? This job is for you!

This position is suited to a candidate with interest in quantum research, including quantum sensing, quantum machine learning, quantum simulation, quantum control, quantum optimization, and applications of quantum computing in various problems. Areas of applications may include AI/machine learning, materials discovery, sensor fusion, robotics/UAVs, resource allocation, teaming coordination, path planning, flight control, dynamic targeting, risk evaluation, quantum systems, nuclear fusion, DNA sequencing, and financial systems. The candidate will also have opportunities to perform research in software development using MATLAB, Python, Visual C++, or LabVIEW.
This position is responsible for working on developing machine learning driven predictive control systems, from concept to product, for various systems (including quantum systems, power and energy systems, autonomous air/space/ground vehicles, etc.) and demonstrating them in the field, for government customers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in the latest cutting-edge technologies (e.g., quantum computing and machine learning) and full-cycle product development activities. Additional duties of this position may include: designing controller architecture and algorithms based on advanced control theories, building controller hardware, developing and implementing controller software codes, and performing real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation for a variety of autonomous systems.

Minimum Qualifications
• B.S. degree in electrical engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, chemistry or other fields relevant to quantum computing.
• A minimum of three years of directly related experience is required at the R2 level
• Experience with Python, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink programming is required.
• Experience with LabVIEW development environment and FPGA programming is highly desired.
• Knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence is desired.
• Due to the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer science, chemistry, physics, or relevant fields, with research experience in quantum computing or quantum algorithms.
• Experience with simulation tools such as IBM Qiskit and QuTiP is highly desired.
• Experience in model predictive control or reinforcement learning is desired.
• Prior experience with quantum algorithms and quantum computing is preferred.
• Capability to help in writing research proposals and winning new businesses in relevant technical fields is highly preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are preferred.

Special Instructions to Applicants
To apply please submit a cover letter addressing each minimum qualification and any applicable preferred qualifications that you meet.
