We are seeking a skilled Distribution Engineering Specialist to join our dynamic team in Fort Worth, TX. As part of our growing Distribution Modernization business line, you will play a key role in leading and managing electric utility distribution projects ranging from 2.4kV to 34.5kV. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with utility clients and work on complex distribution projects, while also providing room for professional growth through our mentorship programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Development: Take charge of developing comprehensive construction packages for distribution voltage projects, encompassing both overhead and underground systems. This includes tasks such as distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
Project Leadership: Work closely with the project team to ensure the timely delivery of services and meet client expectations. Ensure projects adhere to internal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) guidelines.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and expertise in preparing calculations, equipment specifications, proposals, and engineering/project cost estimates. Utilize various distribution design tools and GIS for efficient design implementation.
Team Management: Offer leadership, instruction, and support to less experienced staff members, fostering their professional development.
Client Engagement: Regularly communicate and collaborate with clients and external stakeholders to address their needs and ensure project success.
Compliance and Standards: Apply knowledge of industry regulations such as the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) or GO95/GO128 rules, easements, right-of-way, and permitting to ensure compliance in distribution design.
Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, seeking innovative approaches to enhance processes and solve complex engineering challenges.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program is mandatory.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in distribution engineering (a master's degree in a related field can substitute for one year of experience).
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with both overhead and underground construction methods and distribution system equipment.
• Practical experience in conducting distribution field inspections.
• Understanding of distribution power flow.
• Proficiency in utilizing distribution design tools and GIS for design purposes.
• Thorough knowledge of utility telecommunications, distributed energy resource integration, and advanced distribution technologies is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is highly desirable.
