Job Description:

UDRI is looking for an Autonomy Software Engineer to join the SPIRE group. You will contribute to a growing, collaborative team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing autonomy capabilities and effectiveness.

An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques to reveal new insights and research new applications. They will have extensive, professional software skills and experience that they can leverage toward improving AI/ML systems, with a focus on verification, validation, safe operations and security. Candidate must have knowledge of a variety of programming languages.

Minimum Qualifications
1) Bachelor's degree
2) 12+ years professional experience in Software Development
3) Professional experience in the following:
-- 3.1) Design, coding, testing, deployment, and support, in a team environment
-- 3.2) Linux operating system
-- 3.3) C/C++ and Python programming languages
-- 3.4) Source code version control systems, such as Git or similar, in a team environment
4) Effective written and verbal communication skills
5) Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
6) Ability to obtain a United States SECRET clearance

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1) Master’s degree (or higher) in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field)
2) 15+ years experience in Software Development
3) Rigorous software development skills
4) Professional experience with:
-- 4.1) ML Ops, distributed systems and tools such as Kubernetes, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), containerization (Docker or similar)
-- 4.2) Java, Rust, Go, or similar programming languages
-- 4.3) Machine/deep learning, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems
-- 4.4) Software verification and validation, secure software
-- 4.5) Modular software frameworks and architectures
-- 4.5) Target tracking
6) Proven leadership in technical project management and direction
7) Professional interpersonal skills
8) Experience with DoD projects and work environments
9) Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
