Job Description:

UDRI is looking for an Automomy Engineer to join the SPIRE group. You will contribute to a growing team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing autonomy capabilities and effectiveness.

An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques to reveal new insights and research new applications. They will enjoy and have knowledge of data/document processing, video captioning and natural language processing. This position also requires competency in Python programming language.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree
2. Demonstrated, successful experience (professional) with machine learning techniques and autonomous systems
3. Demonstrated, successful experience (professional) with natural language processing
4. Demonstrated, successful experience (professional) programming in Python
5. Familiarity with government sponsored research efforts
6. Highly self-motivated

A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience at the R2 level is required
 


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

 

1. Master's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
2. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills
3. Experience (academic or professional) with:
-- 3.1. Automatic video captioning including sequence modeling and classification
-- 3.2. Document/data processing
-- 3.3. Computer vision
-- 3.4. Generative adversarial networks
-- 3.5. Source code version control systems such as Git or similar
-- 3.6. Containerization of algorithms and software via Docker or similar


Special Instructions to Applicants

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
