This position is located at Eglin AFB, Florida. Non-Supervisory Aerospace Research Engineer, Mechanical Research Engineer, or a General Research Engineer for a mid-level position in support of the Science and Technology Division (RWT), Computational Engineering Sciences Branch (RWMA) at Eglin AFB, in Valparaiso, Florida. The ideal candidate will have experience in finite-element and hydrocode Modeling, Simulation & Analysis techniques with a focus in modeling plasticity, damage, &/or fracture under dynamic loading. Will also have experience in software scripting techniques.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must possess a Masters degree in Science or Engineering (S&E) from an accredited academic institution. Applicant must list degree information on resume to include any professional military education
• A minimum of 2 years of related experience in addition to a Masters degree in Science or Engineering (S&E) from an accredited academic institution
• Proficiency in the use of finite element software for the analysis of complex systems
• Knowledge of Lagrangian continuum mechanics
• US Citizenship
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• PhD in engineering, physics, or related discipline from an accredited school
• Experience calibrating plasticity and fracture constitutive models for Lagrangian explicit dynamics simulations
• Program Management techniques and practices
• Knowledge of the following:
*Shockwave physics
*Computational Modeling and Simulation Techniques
*Eulerian continuum mechanics
*Molecular, Meso, and/or Continuum scale Modeling, Simulation & Analysis
*Equation of State, Reactive Burn, and/or Constitutive material model development for munition materials
*Industry or government Finite Element, Hydrocode, and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics software packages
*Pre-processing and post processing techniques of Computational Modeling, Simulation & Analysis
*Python, Matlab or other common scripting language
*AF munition full scale and sub scale testing processes and techniques
*Munition shock and impulse Modeling, Simulation & Analysis techniques
*Munition blast wave propagation & product flow in confined and open spaces
o Experience working with or within the Department of Defense research community
o Experience with developing and maintaining close liaison relationships with industry, academia and other Government agencies for Science and Technology (S&T).
o Experience with publication in recognized S&T journals.
o Ability to cultivate and sustain a professional environment of cooperation, cohesion and teamwork.
o Experience team building within a research community with communication skills to navigate creative tension and differences of opinions.
o Ability to anticipate and take steps to prevent counter-productive confrontations. Manages and resolves conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
