POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45+ offices located across North America.

We seek a highly motivated Senior Ecologist and Permitting Lead for a full-time opportunity supporting our growing Eastern Biology Department and Eastern Project Management Department in New England, primarily focusing on power delivery and energy projects.

This position is based in our Foxborough, Massachusetts office with an option to work remotely from a mutually agreeable location. The candidate selected for this position may work remotely full-time at a location other than a POWER Engineers designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Ecologist and Permitting Lead will be a technical expert in their field and have a successful work history executing Clean Water Act permitting and Endangered Species Act coordination for energy infrastructure projects in New England, specifically Massachusetts and Rhode Island. 

Applicants will be technical experts in their field and be capable of working collaboratively with interdisciplinary project teams, interfacing with clients, and serving as a Technical Lead or Task Manager.

 

Required Education/Experience  

·         Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, or other related fields  

·         Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience  

·         Expertise in the interpretation and application of environmental rules and regulations

·         Experience working with Massachusetts Conservation Commissions

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  

·         Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism  

·         Demonstrated technical writing and oral communication skills  

·         Able to lead multiple project assignments at various stages and work independently

·         Able to provide mentorship and foster the technical growth of staff

·         Experience managing subcontractors and monitoring budgets for assigned tasks  

·         Skilled with preparation and monitoring of project scope, schedule, and budget; responsible for financial performance of projects or assigned sub-tasks

·         Able to participate in field reviews, wetland and waterbody delineations, project compliance inspections, and site meetings

·         Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, project managers, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts

·         Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region with potential travel throughout the U.S. Up to 10% travel is expected

·         Professional Wetland Scientist, Project Management Professional, or other professional certifications preferred
