Job Title:  Continuous Improvement Specialist
Location:  Cadillac, MI
 
Purpose of Position:
Under Site and Continuous Improvement management, oversee and execute site-wide Continuous Improvement activities and provide continuous improvement expertise to the local operational department teams. Serves as a subject matter expert in the areas of continuous improvement, working closely with operation department managers as well as other site leaders in varying departments (Purchasing, R&D, Logistics, Finance, etc.).
 
Essential duties and/or Functions:
  • Assist in identifying and execute Kaizen events for the facility.
  • Maintain and create CI related training programs, projects, and documentation.
  • Audit and assess core business functions to identify and act on organizational systems which need improvement.
  • Assist the site leadership teams in departmental gap analysis to identify and create training modules based on tool/skill gaps between departments.
  • Responsible for closing out Continuous Improvement related projects and verifying their corresponding ROI's, KBI's and KPI's.
  • Participate in x, y, z year plans (3 year project/financial/etc. projections) which will guide site and department-wide improvements.
  • Shall maintain and assure department adherence to ISO 9000 and 14001.
  • Responsible for coordinating with operations in regards to the Continuous Improvement budget and the maintaining thereof.
  • Track and verify fiscal year savings, avoidances and capacity increases as it pertains to Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Participate in company-wide culture activities and be a key role in the development thereof.
  • Participate in large-scale company-wide projects as required.
  • Assist in the maintenance and execution of Continual Improvement action items as they are identified in our ISO9001 and ISO14001 processes.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Engineering, Business Administration, Engineering Technology, etc.) with two years of continuous improvement experience or 4+ years experience within continuous improvement in a related industry
  • Specialized certifications or trainings in the areas of quality and/or continuous improvement
  • 1+ years working within and directing teams.
  • 1+ years' experience applying continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills; must be able to provide weekly reports, conduct kaizen facilitation, explain quantitative analysis, and engage teams in presentations.
  • Proven experience working with diverse teams; strong interpersonal, coaching and mentoring skills; ability to achieve results through others by effective delegation and accountability.
  • Ability to prioritize action items within multiple projects.
  • Extensive use of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Visio)
Preferred/Desired Skills or Experiences:
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or other similar combinations of certifications (Lean Certifications, PMP, Shingo Institute, etc.)
  • Prior experience in the respiratory/filtration industry
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of DoD and global Military standards and production requirements
  • Kaizen event facilitation
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in CADILLAC, MI is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 annually.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
 
Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
