Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking two Transportation Technicians in Southwest Region’s Traffic Management Center (TMC), located in Vancouver, WA. The Southwest Region TMC is the only one in the state directly collocated in the same room as a Washington State Patrol (WSP) Communications Center. As such, the Transportation Technicians will analyze real time data from specialized software, video servers, Washington State Patrol Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD and field crews at the scene of an incident to design and implement time sensitive response plans. The decisions made by these positions affect the safety and the flow of traffic on the freeway and the adjacent arterial systems. Our top candidates will possess a high level of independent judgement and decision making. These are in-training positions, allowing candidates to be considered at the Transportation Technician 1, 2, or 3 level depending upon their qualifications. Candidates who qualify at the 1 or 2 level will enter a formal in-training plan that offers a career path to the Transportation Technician 3 level through on-the-job training and development.
