Job Description:

Ardurra is seeking a Transportation Planning Team Leader to join our Traffic Systems Engineering staff in Texas or remote opportunity.

Primary Function
Supervise the Traffic Studies division. Collaborate with the Principals, Managers and Project Managers regarding corporate marketing and business development expectations.

Primary Duties
  • Make decisions and recommendations that are authoritative and have an important impact on project execution and organizational activities
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding projects and activities of major consequence
  • Interpret, organize, execute, and effectively coordinate and manage work for planning and feasibility studies
  • Ability to represent the organization and maintain liaison with government and public individuals and related organizations
  • Utilize strong oral and written communication skills to interact with employees, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others
  • Collaborate with Leadership and Business Development Department to identify project opportunities, develops and prepares qualification submissions
  • Engage in professional industry associations (ie: ITE, ASCE, APA)
  • Ability to effectively lead meetings and make presentations
  • Overall development, direction, and supervision of a team of engineers, planners and technicians for accomplishment of assigned projects/tasks within resources available by approved project budgets
  • Overall direction and accomplishment of a program of assigned projects/tasks with related market/client focus
  • Set priorities and reconciles directions from competing interests; responsible for making work prioritization decisions for assigned team members
  • Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to accomplish projects in unique conditions and/or resolve crucial issues
  • Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting his or her team, and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of programs
  • Serve as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in the area of traffic studies team focus
  • Development of future business to sustain or increase team expertise and capacity by identifying clients and client needs, marketing to clients for delivery of solutions; serves as client relations manager as assigned
  • Develop standards and guidelines for effectiveness of focused work by team; reviews operational practices and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures
  • Plan for future opportunities and leads selected pursuits
  • Schedule and/or approves all work assignments, labor expenditures, and professional development for team members
  • May be assigned other duties, as needed
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Advanced Degree Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
  • 10+ years (Advanced degree may be substituted for the experience)
  • Professional Engineer License required, specialty certification(s) relevant to the responsibilities and skill requirements desirable. Certification for TxDOT work categories of Group 1, 7 & 8 is desirable
  • Must be able to visually observe and differentiate details and colors of objects, recognize sound, tone and pitch; adjust to interruption and changes; work in hot, cold, and noisy work areas; stand, walk and sit for extended periods; climb stairs and ladders; deal with people in tense situations, and lift up to 20 pounds
