LAND SURVEYOR JOB SUMMARY

Performing comprehensive survey tasks including Topographic Surveys, Subdivision Maps, Boundary Surveys, Records of Survey, Legal Descriptions, ALTA/ACSM Surveys, and Construction Staking for a variety of clients including Public Agencies, Schools, Developers and Contractors, Architects, and Utilities Companies. Supporting all activities associated with Land Surveying, requests for proposals, budgeting, scheduling, change management, and coordination and communication with staff and clients. Maintain existing clients and may do business development tasks from time to time and establish new contacts.


LAND SURVEYOR JOB DUTIES

   • Communicates and coordinates survey work with clients, office staff, and field crews.
   • Develops proposals, cost estimates, and schedules for survey projects.
   • Provides office land surveying services supporting Topographic, Subdivision, Boundary, Construction, Control, and ALTA/ACSM Surveys.
   • Performs research, interprets historical survey records, and compiles evidence for establishing project survey control and boundary determinations.
   • Reads and interprets field survey notes, deeds, legal descriptions, GLO and BLM field notes, parcel and tract maps, records of survey, and construction plans.
   • Performs plan review, prepares construction staking calculations, cut sheets, and point plots.
   • Uses Civil 3D to prepare survey exhibit drawings, survey notes, site plans, tentative and record maps.
   • Coordinates operation and maintenance of robotic total stations, GPS, and digital level survey equipment.
   • Prepares legal descriptions.
   • Analyzes conflicts between design plans and existing improvements, reviews as-built plans, maps, records of survey and right-of-way drawings.
   • Familiar with Surveying Principles and Theory, field methods, concepts, practices, and procedures.
   • Represents Cannon and Cannon's Clients in a professional and courteous manner.
   • Coordinates with state, local, and federal regulatory agencies, utility companies, vendors, material suppliers, and contractors.
   • Manage survey projects and ensure the projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
   • May perform and supervise laser scanning, CAD drafting, 3D modeling.
   • Work in a team environment.

Requirements:

   • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible work experience in land surveying.
   • PLS certification required.
   • Demonstrated proficiency in using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
   • Experience with developing proposals, coordination with clients, and managing project budgets.
   • Daily coordination and scheduling of field staff to maintain workflow.
   • Proven ability to work effectively with peers, superiors, team members, clients, and General Contractors in a dynamic work environment.
   • Possess excellent organization, communication, and project management skills.
   • Experience reviewing deeds and title documents and performing property boundary analysis and calculations.
   • Demonstrates working knowledge of Land Surveyor's Act, Subdivision Map Act, applicable state and local agency regulations governing land surveying.
   • Experience in performing easement, highway, and street right-of-way research, calculations and mapping.
   • Demonstrates proficiency in field-to-finish descriptor/feature coding for auto point line work using LDD, Carlson, or similar software.
   • Working knowledge and experience setting up and operating robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS-RTK equipment.
   • Must have an active California Driver's license with a clear driving record and proof of valid auto insurance.
