Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Ecologist with expertise in Aquatic/Terrestrial Ecology or Environmental Planning to manage environmental projects and provide technical guidance to clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental consulting and a strong background in project management.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage environmental projects, including planning, execution, and reporting
  • Conduct environmental assessments and provide technical guidance on environmental regulations and policies
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
  • Prepare and submit reports, proposals, and permit applications
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members
  • Provide technical expertise in areas such as natural heritage, restoration ecology, and species at risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations

Qualifications: 
  • Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in Environmental Consulting, with a background in either Aquatic/Terrestrial Ecology or Environmental Planning
  • Must have at least 3 years of Project Management experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the application of the Conservation Authorities Act, federal Fisheries Act Authorizations, Endangered Species Act, as well as regional and municipal official plans as they apply to natural heritage is required
  • Should have experience with provincial and federal environmental regulatory procedures, including provincial and municipal EAs, Environmental Impact Studies, Due Diligence studies, species at risk assessments, and restoration ecology
  • Must have demonstrated experience with client and agency relations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must-have.
