The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking an interested and qualified individual to fill the Scoping Safety and Operations Engineer (Civil Engineer Transportation Advanced) vacancy in the North Central Region.

This full-time position can be headquartered in Wisconsin Rapids or Rhinelander.

Position Summary

This position performs professional engineering work as the project manager of the Scoping Certification Team in the Systems Planning Section of the North Central transportation region and is responsible for safety certification, operation certification, and alternative development for improvement projects.  This position performs complex engineering work and is responsible for making critical decisions independent of supervisory oversight. 

This position must develop and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships the other units within Systems Planning and Operations, and the other regional sections, units, and teams, central office units, and local, state, and federal agencies.

This position is a project manager for the activities of other engineers, the delivery of preliminary engineering analysis to establish scope, budget, and the schedule for each programmed state trunk highway (STH) and backbone project programmed in the North Central Region.

Salary Information

These positions are in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $77,168 to $93,350, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

  • A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state.
