Senior Geotechnical Engineer Job Summary:

Our client is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. Your primary responsibilities will involve collaborating on initiatives that provide geotechnical exploratory, design, forensic, laboratory testing, construction management, and inspection/testing services to clients in the Energy, Institutional, Transportation, Industrial, Commercial, Communication, and Residential sectors, while reporting to the Senior Director at our client's firm. 

Here is what you will be doing as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer:

  • The position involves managing multiple projects related to geotechnical and geo-materials. The tasks include client and contractor management, geotechnical evaluation and problem solving, report preparation and review, and preparation of proposals and invoices.
  • You will need to schedule and oversee project staff, laboratory and field testing. You will also be responsible for conducting geotechnical assessments using computer aided design and analysis software and conducting site visits and investigations to evaluate difficult conditions and assist field staff.
  • Familiarity with Ontario O.Reg. 406 regulations would be an asset for this role, as would experience with both shallow and deep foundations. Additionally, strong analytical skills are needed to carry out Geotechnical investigative assignments, and the role involves assisting in managing, training, and mentoring technical personnel and more junior professional staff.

Here are the requirements and essential skills you will possess:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university;
  • Member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical and/or geo-materials engineering;
  • Local project experience in both soil and rock conditions;
  • Motivated to provide excellent client service and enjoy working in a team environment;
  • Strong communication skills.
