Job Description:

Are you interested in working for UDRI, a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers? Our Applied Sensing division invites qualified candidates to apply for our Associate Computer Engineer opening!

This position will be responsible for working, as part of a diverse and skilled technical team, to write and test software in high-level languages, and to develop and test signal processing and machine learning algorithms from concept to implementation. The position will involve working with both hardware and software solutions to apply developed capabilities on various robotic platforms. There will be a heavy emphasis upon machine learning and neuromorphic computing research.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant engineering field.
2. Familiarity with modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and software compilers such as Netbeans, Visual Studio, VS Code, Jupyter, or similar.
3. Familiarity with developing software using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and/or Java
4. Familiarity with statistical modeling, machine learning, and/or deep learning concepts
5. Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required
6. Eligibility to obtain a United States SECRET clearance (or higher) is required for ongoing employment in this position

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Professional experience with the Linux Operating System
2. Professional experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS)
3. Professional experience developing software using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and/or Java
4. Professional experience with version control systems such as Git, Subversion, or similar
5. Professional experience with machine learning frameworks using Tensorflow and/or PyTorch
6. Professional experience with neuromorphic computing frameworks such as Nengo, COSIVINA, and/or Intel Lava Framework
7. Professional experience with neuromorphic computing concepts and spiking neural networks
8. Professional experience with statistical modeling, machine learning, and/or deep learning concepts
9. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills
10. Active US SECRET (or higher) clearance
