This position covers sample preparation, material flammability testing, instrument calibration and repair, instrument maintenance and operation, ISO 9001 laboratory management, report writing, and costing of small projects. The position also supports general materials science and materials chemistry needs, including material synthesis and thermal analysis characterization. Additional attributes sought include strong analytical and communication skills, detail-oriented and capable of completing multiple time-sensitive tasks, ability to prioritize workloads, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
• BS degree Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
• Familiar with thermal analysis and thermal decomposition behavior of materials.
• Experience with handling chemicals and reading product safety data sheets.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience with material flammability testing methods (ASTM E1354, D7309).
• Experience with ISO 9001 lab procedures.
• Experience with costing jobs / quoting projects.
• Experience with heat release data interpretation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
