Summary

The Test Engineer position will be responsible for designing, programming, and implementing the tests that ensure the quality and the functionality of a product along with being involved in all phases of the product development launch cycle.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support production test equipment by collaborating with quality, manufacturing engineers, line leads, etc.
  • Work with design engineering to confirm what features / functions to be included in test specs
  • Work with mechanical engineers on design of physical test equipment
  • Work with manufacturing and quality engineers to commission and validate test equipment onto production floor
  • Liaison with outside contractors for outsourced test equipment

Representative Decisions

  • Drawing and documentation approval for simple to medium complexity equipment and processes
  • Provide recommendations with corresponding documentation to Lab and Testbenches Manager, Engineering Manager or project team for complex equipment and process improvements

Expected Outcomes

  • Robust test stations that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable
  • Good working relationship with design engineering and manufacturing
  • Quick response and resolution to production issues
  • On time delivery of test equipment per project schedules

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 4-year degree (BS) in Engineering
  • 3 years required experience
  • Good understanding of electrical circuits, linear motion concepts, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo motion systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Ability to write concise test specifications
  • Ability to design test stand for linear motion equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of measurement, automation programming, and control techniques
  • In-depth troubleshooting skills, able to determine root cause failures between test equipment and product issues
  • Understanding of broad range of sensors and how to interact with them programmatically

Preferred Experience:

  • Programming experience with LabVIEW.
  • Familiar with NI equipment including cRIO, FPGA and Windows
  • Familiar with SQL and MS Access databases, designing and integrating with test cells
