SUMMARY

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development, production, and release of new products. This person will also oversee growing our Global Innovation Library with their unique perspectives on best practices for manufacturing Thomson products. This position is perfect for an individual passionate about continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operational readiness of new product releases.
  • Delivering results that are aligned with the TG2 contract (product and project cost, launch OTD and quality metrics
  • Cell development for new products, including layout, design of assembly fixtures and processes
  • Support definition of CTQ’s for parts, assemblies, and processes
  • Coordinate CAPEX requirements and support CAR for new equipment purchases
  • Support FPQP process: Producibility reviews & process capability studies with strong input into supplier selection
  • Develop best practices for manufacturability across Thomson product lines and document them in the Global Innovation Library (GIL)
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Representative Decisions

  • Strong influence on:
    • Cell design, layout, and equipment selection
    • Supplier selection for components, tools, and equipment
    • Test stand architecture strategy for new products in development

Expected Outcomes

  • Launch OTD to TG2 contract
  • Product and project cost to TG2 contract
  • IPPM and EPPM of new product releases that favorably impact Thomson averages
  • PFMEA’s burn down of RPN’s to < 100
  • Strong followership and respect of NPD and operations team members which enables seamless transfer of ownership during and after launch phase

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing) AND 5 years of experience
  • Excel, PPT and Project Management tools (Wrike a +)
  • CAD software (CREO preferred)
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings & geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Lean manufacturing tools (VSM, VRK, 5S, STD Work, 6 sigma)
  • Proficiency in leading and maintaining PFMEA’s
  • Knowledge & use of measurement equipment
  • Cost estimating
  • Knowledge of electromechanical assemblies (motors & sensors a +)
  • Proficiency in manufacturing processes (CNC machining, metal forming, heat treatment and assembly)
