- Provide bridge inspection services and engineering support in response to department needs
- Develop reports, calculations, and drawings for projects
- Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of industry codes, standards, and computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
- Conduct structural inspections of all structure types
- Prepare structural design calculations, structural analyses, and bridge load ratings, including the use of advanced analysis software
- Prepare inspection reports using iForms, BMS2, and National Bridge Elements (NBE), etc
- Conduct condition assessments of existing structures and prepares reports
- Provide quality oversight (QA/QC review) for bridge inspection and/or structural engineering work performed by others, communicate findings and issues, and suggest alternatives/adjustments
- Function as a Team Leader during NBIS inspection
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers and designers
- Assist with project management tasks and/or be solely responsible for managing projects, such as preparing and/or reviewing Scopes of Work and Hours estimates for inspection projects, monitoring and maintaining inspection project budgets, etc.
- May fulfill low level supervisory roles/tasks
- Assist with statements of interest, technical proposals, and price proposals as needed
- Assist with project management task assignments and proposals
- Understands, in greater detail, the significance and use of project schedules and budgets
- Perform all tasks necessary to complete a project with minimal guidance
- Ability to express both technical and non-technical issues and ideas clearly
- Continue to demonstrate growth with bridge inspection, calculations, analyses, and rating tasks
- Ability to accept assignments of increased complexity
- Support internal departments with bridge inspection and structural services required to execute projects
- Seal structure plans with support documents and bridge inspection reports
Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Participate in professional and engineering society conferences
- Contribute and serve on ACEC committees and subcommittees

- Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, client relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
- Contribute to the overall success of Mackin by supporting internal departments, providing exemplary service to clients, and striving to meet on-going initiatives to grow and develop the company

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role may supervise project-based tasks but not supervise/manage staff

Education and/or Experience
Years of experience: Minimum of 10+ years experience in the engineering field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education: BA or BS Degree required
Degree or Formal Training: Civil Engineering or a related discipline
License, Certificate or Registration: PE and CBSI in Pennsylvania is required (Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia are a plus). Must meet criteria as defined by NBIS.
