The Public Works Engineering Division is seeking an ENGINEER I

 
This position is responsible for providing construction administration support for large stormwater and transportation capital improvement projects within the Design and Construction Management Section. Duties include preparing and distributing construction related documents, providing constructability reviews during design, and assisting the team with various project tasks.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform engineering and constructability reviews for capital improvement projects to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and industry standards and practices.
  • Coordinate and process invoicing, change orders and RFI’s and material submittals. Coordination includes scheduling meetings and preparing agendas and follow-up correspondence related to the city/contractor daily activities.
  • Assist with various project tasks such as reviewing/routing and logging RFIs and submittals, filing of engineering records, tracking of material testing, invoicing, coordination of meetings, and securing purchase orders.
  • Prepare and maintain various construction reports and records, including all required documentation for state and federally funded projects.
  • Prepares/Assists with small project designs (such as sizing a drainage pipe for replacement sidewalk or turn lane projects.
  • Investigate and respond to project inquiries and concerns for contractors, staff, the general public, and other organizational agencies.
  • Research ways to resolve concerns and develop recommendations as needed.
  • Involvement for the city’s emergency/ hurricane preparedness and activation plan coordination and assignments of the program with Public Works staff during activation.
