Hydraulics Engineering Lead for Transit – Transportation Engineer 4 (In-Training)

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 4 (In-Training) to serve as the Hydraulics Engineering Lead for Transit in Seattle, WA. This position is a senior level professional engineer and technical program specialist in the field of hydraulics, hydrology, and stormwater engineering. This position contributes to the mission of WSDOT by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and improves the safety, quality, and capacity of the State’s transportation system. The Hydraulics Engineering Lead for Transit supports the development and review of drainage, hydraulic, and stormwater related submittals for transit agency work in WSDOT right-of-way which may include hydraulic reports, hydraulic specialty reports, stormwater BMP maintenance plans, TESC plans, permits, agreements, and leases. This position will be independently responsible for ensuring said materials are in compliance with WSDOT’s Highway Runoff, Hydraulic, TESC, Design, and Utilities Manuals as well as the Clean Water Act, National and State Environmental Policy Acts, Washington State Hydraulic Code, and National Pollution Discharge and Elimination System permit. These responsibilities involve an advanced level of engineering knowledge, skills, and independent engineering decision making.
Note: This position includes an approved in-training plan; therefore, it may be filled at the Transportation Engineer 3 or 4 level.
