Berry Metal Company is looking for a self-directed Technical Project Manager with heavy industry and on-site commissioning experience to help take on larger projects with turn-key installation scopes.
Education and Training Required
· Bachelor’s degree with an Engineering Discipline preferred.
· Five years or more experience with Heavy Equipment implementation.
· PMP and/or CMP Certifications are preferred.
· Oral and written communication skills training.
· Training in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Projects and Word, and ERP Software.
· ISO quality control system training
Skills Required
· Ability to project manage Metals Industry Projects, throughout engineering process and installation process with a strong knowledge of equipment application to provide guidance on all critical requirements.
· Proven track record of success in leading projects to a successful completion in an organized fashion, with on-time and on-budget performance benchmarks.
· Onsite steel mill experience with mill projects a plus.
· Requires high-level Technical Problem-Solving ability.
· Ability to communicate effectively with all Engineering Department, Sales Department, Plant personnel, and Customers.
· Ability to support sales initiatives, technical services, commissioning efforts and/or equipment installation support.
· Technical drawing and documentation viewing, reading, writing, and printing skills
· Advanced understanding of welding techniques and procedures, machine shop operations and procedures.
· Knowledge of Design Codes and Industry Standards – ASME / AISE / AISC / DIN.
· Understanding of ISO quality control system procedures and requirements.
· Travel is required, up to 35%. Mainly domestic.
Position Duties
· Drive projects to successful completion in an organized manner, while maintaining / reporting budget and timeline.
· Lead efforts on Technical Project Management and Implementation of Mill Projects. Up to and including, project management, engineering support, workshop guidance and final verification.
· Manage the technical aspects of projects. Assists the Engineering Manager with the management of technical projects from initiation through manufacture.
· Serve in a key leadership helping drive growth in the company by successfully managing high profile projects within the Engineering Department.
· Represent Berry Metal Company at Industry Technical Discussions.
· Check and approve Project drawings and designs.
· Provide technical support to Sales, Applications, and Production.
· Project management of mill outage projects and/or equipment design and installation projects.
· Problem solving in a systematic way to eliminate failures or improve designs.
· Stay current with new technologies and introduce new technologies to the organization.
· Attend seminars and continuing education classes, and review technical publications to keep abreast of new technologies.
· Perform mill project startup and commissioning of mechanical systems when required.
· Execute all necessary day-to-day tasks required for optimal Engineering Department functionality.
