Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Construction Division, State Geotechnical Office in Tumwater is currently seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer or engineering geologist to fill a managerial vacancy. As the Geotechnical Design and Project Development Manager, you serve as an assistant to the State Geotechnical Engineer and provide strategic and tactical management of the Geotechnical Design and Project Development Section. In this role, you will manage the execution of comprehensive geotechnical engineering studies conducted by consultants in support of WSDOT’s project definition, PS&E development, construction, and maintenance activities. This position will manage the long-range planning function for the State Geotechnical Office regarding workforce needs, equipment needs, implementation of new technology, and services to be provided by the Section. This position also will ensure the geotechnical engineering services provided by the Section to the various Agency offices are provided efficiently and consistently and meet or exceed acceptable standards of quality. Our top candidate must possess the knowledge and skills to be able to assess the level of effort and design requirements quickly and accurately for geotechnical projects and be able to interact with a wide variety of audiences to include WSDOT's consultants and the State Geotechnical Office customers.
