The Opportunity

WSDOT’s Northwest Region (NWR) Program Delivery Office is eager to hire an engineering professional to serve as Preservation Subprogram Manager. The primary undertaking of the Preservation Subprogram Manager will be to manage and support the delivery and reporting of the projects within various programs in the region’s Highway Construction Program. This position is also responsible for supporting the program management functions for the I-405 and the Puget Sound Gateway Program, including Capital Program Management System (CPMS) updates and Work Order Authorization requests. The successful candidate appointed to this unique position will serve a vital role in support of WSDOT’s mission to provide safe, reliable, and cost effective transportation options to improve communities and economic vitality.  
 
What to Expect

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Preservation Subprogram Manager will:

  • Monitor, maintain, and update project information in CPMS and the Transportation Executive System (TEIS) to support project delivery and reporting in the region. 
  • Monitor, maintain, and update project data for scope, schedule, cost estimates, and expenditures aging to ensure all data is accurate and reasonable based on information from various sources. 
  • Monitor project costs and biennial expenditures against approved budgets in TEIS and report variances. 
  • Coordinate with NWR Maintenance, Headquarters, and other offices on setting up, monitoring, and managing Emergency Projects in CPMS. 
  • Direct Work Order Authorization (WOA) needed to the program assistant for completion, review for accuracy, and submit to Program Delivery Manager for review and approval. 
  • Coordinate with NWR Program Development for the book-building of future biennium proposed projects. 

 

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:

  • One (1) year of experience as a Transportation Engineer 2 or equivalent. 
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Current driver’s license

 

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:

  • Knowledge of WSDOT program management policies and programs.

  • Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 357-16-197 mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.   • The salary listed includes the legislative approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County.
  • In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code.
