Join our team as a senior travel demand modeler/analyst. In this role, you will lead the implementation and application of travel demand models to support important regional planning efforts by local and state agencies. You will be responsible for collecting, developing, studying, and maintaining transportation and land use data for use in travel demand models, scenario planning, and transportation system planning. A day in the life:
  • Coordinate the application of several travel demand models to support regional planning efforts.
  • Implement travel demand models using modeling software (such as VISUM), statistical software (such as R and Python), and other tools.
  • Coordinate the development, maintenance, and implementation process of multiple travel demand models – including coordinating transportation, land use, and socioeconomic data collection and studies.
  • Coordinate and provide expert transportation modeling and analysis advice, guidance, and review of regional plans, corridor plans, refinement studies, and other planning efforts.
  • Review, research, and provide guidance for new planning study techniques, data sources, and software applications for transportation modeling analysis work.
  • Coordinate transportation modeling and analysis work across ODOT regions, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), local jurisdictions, and consultant staff. Includes serving on technical advisory committees as a subject matter expert (SME).
  • Prepare and present technical deliverables related to transportation and land use modeling, including regional plans, corridor plans, procedures, manuals, and modeling processes.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers, provide positive and professional customer service, and present respectful and transparent interactions. Exposure to some customers who may be emotionally charged.
  • The majority of work is performed in an office environment, with extensive use of a computer. Statewide travel is occasionally required.
  • Hybrid remote work may be available, with manager approval.

 What we need:
  • A valid Professional Engineer's (PE) license in Civil, Structural, or Transportation-related engineering.

    NOTE: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.

  • Demonstrated strong transportation modeling analysis skills and knowledge.
  • Experience implementing and applying travel demand models.
  • Experience using, manipulating, and analyzing transportation, land use, and/or socioeconomic data.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while scoping, assigning, reviewing, and coordinating work for others.
  • Ability to coordinate technical requests among a diverse set of clients – and prepare/present conclusive deliverables.
