Warrior Met Coal has a current opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. Warrior is a U.S.-based, environmentally, and socially minded supplier to the global steel industry. We are dedicated entirely to mining non-thermal metallurgical coal used as a critical component of steel production by metal manufacturers in Europe, South America, and Asia. Warrior is a large-scale, low-cost producer and exporter of premium quality metallurgical coal, also known as hard-coking coal (HCC), operating highly efficient longwall operations in its underground mines based in Alabama.
Job Description:
Coordinate and supervise power distribution and communication system projects for both new installations and modifications to existing systems; provide support for these systems in the form of 24/7 emergency maintenance and troubleshooting, power quality analysis, documentation, and cost analysis.
Essential Functions (95%)
Power Distribution Project Management (50%). Plan and coordinate with contractors the construction of power lines, substations, and power feeds as needed for all surface installations. Create and/or provide all necessary documentation and operating instructions.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting (20%). Provide support for surface power distribution systems including but not limited to power lines, substations, protective relay and fuse coordination, vacuum circuit breakers, power cables, deep-well pumps, motors, bore-hole power feeds, transformers, and ventilation fans. Perform preventative maintenance including thermal imaging, power demand analysis, and power quality studies. On call 24/7.
Data and Communication Systems (15%). Provide support for surface fiber optic network, SCADA radio network, long-range wireless Ethernet, and RFID Smartcard readers. Coordinate projects for expansion of these systems as needed.
Energy Account Management (10%). Organize and maintain energy account records. Periodically review accounts to maintain optimal cost efficiency. Create annual reports of power costs and 5-year forecasts. Negotiate and review new contracts with Alabama Power Company as needed. Conduct periodic power quality studies with Alabama Power Company’s power quality group.

Preferred Competencies:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
