Job Summary: 
  
The Senior Plumbing Fire Protection Engineer will engage in all phases of a project from inception to completion of construction.  This involvement is intended to grow individuals and nurture design talents.
  
In this role, you will: 
  • Listen to our clients’ needs and independently provide value to them by evaluating options based upon the client’s needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle cost.
  • Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary.
  • Work alone on projects or work on a project team with other technical staff to design and detail new systems that are needed, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.
  • Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.
  • Participate in on site observations, information gathering, and interaction with clients and contractors both during the design and construction phases of the projects to represent BVH in the field.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplined design team for new and existing clients by meeting with them to discuss the projects, conducting presentations, evaluate design alternatives, and produce design deliverables.
  • Perform design calculations following office standards.
  • Stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities.
  • Design fire protections systems (including hydraulic calculations), plumbing systems and equipment, and medical and laboratory gas systems
  • Develop plumbing and fire protection scope of services including schedules and managing resource requirements.
  • Analyze data and observations to form recommendations for clients and senior internal staff members
You will be a great fit if: 
  • You have a BS Degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering
  • You have a Professional Registration
  • CPD and CFPS preferred
  • You have Revit or other BIM project experience
Skills/abilities: 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from concept stage through construction in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency with mechanical, life safety, and building codes.
  • Ability to provide clear direction to junior team members in a collaborative mentorship.
