Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Design and Construction Engineer (Transportation Engineer 3) to support the Department’s mission by ensuring highway projects are designed and constructed in compliance with established Department standards. This is accomplished by leading a team of engineers and technicians in performing skilled engineering tasks on Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build projects. On Design-Build projects, the position will lead a team of quality verification engineers and technicians to evaluate the Design-Builders design and construction work for conformance with contract requirements, as well as monitor the performance of the Design-Builder’s quality programs. On Design-Bid-Build projects, the position will lead a team of design engineers and CAD technicians in the development of the plans, specifications, and estimates and lead inspectors and technicians in the inspection of contractor construction work. This position must exercise considerable independence of action and judgment in making engineering decisions. As a Transportation Engineer 3 in the Port Orchard Project Engineering Office (PEO), the incumbent is placed in the position as Design and Construction Engineer.
