Introduction
This Classification is considered exempt and is not subject to the Civil Service Examination process.
This examination is open to all candidates, both internal and external, who meet the minimum requirements.

Residency Requirement: There is no residency requirement to submit an application; however, all District employees must be domiciled within the boundaries of the District within six months of successful completion of probation. (The District is in Cook County, Illinois, covering approximately 90% of the county area.)
Probationary Period: The probationary period for this classification is one year (250 days worked).

Duties

Under the general direction of the District's Executive Director, is responsible for the District's information technology program including strategic planning, development, maintenance, security and user support for all systems supporting District activities.
 
Desirable Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, public administration, business administration or a related field. Twelve years of professional experience in information technology, of which four years must have been in an administrative capacity, including supervision of professional information technology staff.
Substitution: Additional graduate study in computer science may be substituted for the non-specialized experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years. Additional professional experience in information technology may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.

    2. Overseeing all operations to ensure the maintenance of reliable, effective and efficient information technology systems

    5. Directing the preparation and administration of an Information Technology Department budget
