The job comes with 100% remote work possibility and strong preference will be given to candidates who are already located in Portland, Oregon.
We are currently seeking a Principal Environmental Engineer or Scientist to collaborate with highly skilled and experienced professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in growing Portland, Oregon office.
The successful candidate will:
  • Build strong relationships and strategic partnerships with key, target or repeat Environmental clients that have the potential to deliver at least $1M in NSR annually and work to grow the Environmental business with these clients to support growth of the company.
  • Engage clients in strategic conversation to develop a broad and deep understanding of the client organization and its ecosystem and the current and future challenges it is facing. Mentoring and leadership experience for technical professionals a plus.
  • Provide extremely valuable strategic input and services based on this understanding with exceptional business and financial acumen (e.g., development/implementation of strategic business/action plan).
  • Demonstrate strong technical competence in the services required by the client.
  • Bring wise and masterful communication skills to the relationship-building processes.
  • Build and maintains a strong bridge between the client and our project teams as they serve the client over time.
  • Ensure instruments of service including project reports and client memoranda to address client needs.
  • Assist with project problem resolution and stewards the client relationship through any difficulties so that it thrives over the long-term and we are sought out to provide services in the future.
  • Gather information from all staff working with the client to deepen understanding of client needs and issues.
  • Provide ongoing input to company-wide strategic and systems thinking and planning.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Proven client development experience for large programs/contracts including established contacts in private developer, municipal and state government, and legal sectors. (Must have Oregon client relationships and work that will come with you.)
  • 25+ years experience of relevant professional services in contaminated site cleanup, federal and state regulatory guidance and expertise, project and team management, and technical expertise.
  • Consistent track record including successfully managing large strategic projects.
  • Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory landscape and proven negotiation skills with federal, state, and local regulators and funders.
