The person hired for this position will be located at Daniel J. Curran Place in Dayton, OH and will be employed within the Nonstructural Materials Division (NSMD) of UDRI. The position will require travel from Daniel J. Curran Place to WPAFB. The NSMD focuses on the broad area of materials science and engineering for both aerospace and industrial clients in both the government and commercial sectors of the USA. The individual hired for this position will be responsible for program management, contractual administration, and business operations within the Nonstructural Materials Division. These duties will include lifecycle management of contracts at the functional level as well as financial and planning support for the Division Head with respect to Division Operations.

Specific job duties this person will be fulfilling include: working with UDRI researchers on finances and deliverable completion with government and commercial contracts and subcontracts; provide budgeting and forecast data for several projects across the research groups for both government and commercial customers; work directly with PIs to maintain compliance with Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) responsible programs; coordinate with PI/Division Administrator on financial reporting, invoicing, and issuance of payments to the Government; provide hands-on assistance to PIs with both contracting and subcontracting actions throughout the lifecycle of contract execution (proposal generation, pre-award, execution, close-out, invoicing, etc.); interfacing directly as the the point of contact for the NSMD for both the Contracts and Grants Office and Research Accounting offices with the Research Institute; independently assisting with budgeting/accounting/planning associated with surplus budget for the Division.

A person applying for this position must be willing and able to both meet and communicate (both verbally and via documents, spreadsheets, slides, etc.) with Group Leaders, customers, and UDRI representatives from the various Administration Offices. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and with others are essential qualities to this position. Either currently having or the ability to obtain a security clearance is required for this position.


Minimum Qualifications
1) Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience in either a business or finance related career field (including, but not limited to: business management, business administration, finance, accounting, etc.) - OR -
2) Advanced degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in either a business or finance related career field (including, but not limited to: business management, business administration, finance, accounting, etc.)
3) Experience with an accounting software such as Costpoint, Sage, or equivalent
4) Experience/understanding the lifecycle of contracts and their execution (proposal generation, pre-award, execution, close-out, subcontracting, invoicing, etc.)
5) Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
6) Effective written and verbal communication skills
7) U.S. citizenship required
8) The ability to obtain and maintain an active DOD SECRET security clearance
9) Ability to travel from Daniel J. Curran Place to WPAFB

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1) Advanced degree (MBA, J.D., M.S., Ph.D) in a related field of study
2) 10+ years of diverse business, contracting, or program management experience
3) Demonstrated ability to generate ideas, identify problems and effective solutions in financial analysis, contracting, and program management of government and commercial contracts. These abilities should be substantiated by references and specific examples in a resume and/or interview.
4) Proficiency with Deltek/Costpoint utilizing both currently available reporting options as well as generating custom forms/operations that are best suited for the NSMD business model
5) Experience with government finances, funding and DFAS system
6) Proficiency with project management software such as Microsoft Project
7) Currently holds an active DoD SECRET security clearance or higher with an in-scope investigation (within the last six years)
8) No known inhibitors to obtaining access to Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance
9) Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
