Job Description:

Are you interested in working for UDRI, a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers? UDRI invites qualified candidates to apply for our Robotic Operator Technician opening!

This position will support automation technology insertion including laser and robotic depaint, non-destructive inspections, system and subsystem surface cleaning and paint operations. The candidate will provide support for daily shift production of F-16 aircraft coating removal by operating the F-16 Robotic Laser Coating Removal System (RLCRS). The F-16 RLCRS is a piece of industrial plant equipment at AMARG, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ, using a 10kW IPG laser mounted on a large FANUC robotic arm and a large Hubtex electrical forklift. This position is at Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ.


Minimum Qualifications
• Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) in the field of automation and instrumentation or other relevant field.
• 8 years’ experience as a technician in a technical and industrial environment.
• Dedication and adherence to strong industrial safety standards around lasers and robotic equipment.
• Willingness to follow directions, procedures and communication protocols.
• Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks concurrently.
• Focus on teamwork in a collaborative environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Excellent communications skills.
• US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Demonstrated successful production experience.
• Experience in automated and robotic systems.
• Experience with the United States Air Force.
• Basic to advanced software operations and controls and trouble shooting skills. (Linux based preferable).
• Basic to advanced Pneumatic experience from assemble to trouble shooting.
• Basic to advanced Hydraulic experience from assemble to trouble shooting.
• Basic to advanced experience with HVAC systems.
• Basic to advanced low level electrical experience from assemble to trouble shooting.
• Basic to advanced mechanical skills and understanding of mechanical machinery operations.
• Experience dealing with Haz waste and its procedures and exposures.
