Robert E. Lee & Associates, Inc., a northeast Wisconsin full-service engineering consulting firm, specializing in civil and environmental engineering, surveying, and natural resources services, is seeking a motivated applicant for a temporary summer intern position.
JOB TITLE: Civil Engineering – Summer Intern
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Perform project support drafting/design tasks on highway and municipal projects in accordance with state and federal standards. Tasks include plan preparation using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Perform support duties related to project development, design, hydraulics, materials, and specifications.
- Work is performed under professional engineering guidance and provides an opportunity to apply basic engineering principals in real life situations.
- Perform construction observation of highway and municipal construction projects; including bridge painting, grading, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and water mains. Tasks include inspection, materials testing, and record keeping
EDUCATION:
- Enrollment in Civil Engineering Bachelor’s Degree Program or Technical School Associate Degree Program is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 0-4 years civil engineering experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Ability to communicate and interact well with clients, agencies, and other staff.
- Ability to utilize AutoCAD and Civil3D software is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, construction drawings, specifications, work orders, and shop drawings.
- Ability to maintain project records in a current and orderly manner.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods, and to climb, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, and bend.
- Ability to walk through typical construction project sites; climb ladders, scaffolding, stairs, and rough terrain.
- Ability to carry up to 30 pounds.
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Indoor office setting and/or outdoor working environment if on construction sites.
- Travel to and from project sites.
- Overtime may be required to complete projects.
- Occasional adjustments in work shifts may be required to service project needs.
- Internship is for the full summer and has the opportunity to extend through the school year working remotely on various design related tasks.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Compensation based on experience.
