Job Description:

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. 

The Senior Engineer will provide senior leadership and mentorship as well as decisive guidance and direction in managing the technical aspects of engineering related to building structures at the VISN 5 VA Health Care Service. You will provide guidance and direction on the management of technical aspects of engineering related to building structures. 

Contract term:  1 year 

Location: Washington D.C.  

Salary: The salary range for this position, based on market data, is $100K -$120K per annum (depending on experience). 

This position is contingent on a Task Order award. 

Key responsibilities:        

  • Responsible for the overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost, and schedule. 
  • Responsible for the engineering analysis, development, design, and preparation of complete plans and specifications for new work and improvements. 
  • Provide technical oversight and evaluation concerning all engineering disciplines as they pertain to all project work. 
  • Independently responsible and accountable for determining the action necessary in the development and completion of design projects, coordination of a project staff which may include architects, engineers, engineering technicians, draftsmen, and clerk/typists, and review of the final contract documents. 
  • Survey existing job conditions and confers with requesting medical center personnel to determine the exact scope of the project, phasing, impact on other medical center services, and other specific design requirements 
  • Determine how the project(s) will impact the medical center based on the results of a risk assessment that could have a severe impact on patient care 

Qualifications to be successful in the role: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university  
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in engineering (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, safety, etc) and construction management of buildings and structures 
  • Knowledge in scheduling cost estimating, and overall design integration is required 
  • Familiarity with scheduling cost estimating, and overall design integration is necessary. 
  • Able to review and resolve engineering issues associated with construction and specification documents 
  • Medical center or healthcare facility experience is highly preferred  
  • Familiarity with military programming rules and documentation is desirable 
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and practice. 
  • Able to problem-solve and troubleshoot as the need arises 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
