Overview

We looking for a hard-working individual to join our team as a Civil Engineer I or II on the Enterprise Asset Management team!
 

The position's main focus will be on the development, maintenance, and extension of the County's Infrastructure Asset Management System with opportunities to participate in other diverse workgroups within the Department. The IAM (Infrastructure Asset Management) System is a core resource for supporting the Engineering and Road and Bridge Departments in efficiently managing roadway assets (such as roads, bridges, guardrails, etc.) through their entire lifecycle. Responsibilities

Specifically, this position:

  • Develops and maintains asset definitions within the IAM system.
  • Provides QA/QC services for data within the IAM System.
  • Supports the development of asset lifecycle maintenance strategies to proactively the type and timing of various maintenance activities.
  • Supports the development of periodic inspection protocols for assets.
  • Provides data extraction and reporting to support decision making efforts within the Road and Bridge and Engineering Departments.
  • Maintains the County's linear referencing system using ESRI Roads and Highways.

We are looking for a candidate that will:
  • Understand standard principles and practices of Civil Engineering as applied to public works or civil engineering.
  • Understand the general concepts of asset management as it relates to roadway infrastructure.
  • Have strong skills in developing queries and filters to extract and manipulate data to support the departments.
  • Have experience with ArcGIS Pro and ESRI's Roads and Highways software.
  • Work across a range of civil engineering topics such as drainage, roadways and bridges, and traffic.
  • Provide professional customer service to clients and public.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, & persuasively both verbally and in writing.
  • Be creative in designing solutions to resolve difficult issues.
  • Be flexible, organized, and eager to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively within groups of varying perspectives, areas of expertise and interests.


Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

Depending on qualifications, this position may hire as an Civil Engineer I or an Civil Engineer II.

  • Civil Engineer I
    • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering required.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.
    • Engineer-Intern Certification preferred.
  • Civil Engineer II
    • At least three (3) years of experience as a Civil Engineer I in Larimer County, or in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
    • Engineer-Intern Certification required.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado preferred.
    • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering or a related field required.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.

Larimer County will be adjusting pay ranges effective January 13, 2023. Please visit our website at www.larimer.gov/hr/employee-relations/compensation-classification/pay-plan/2023 to view more information. This posting has been adjusted to reflect the new 2023 pay rate.

The typical schedule for this position is 8am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
